In the Coretax era, an individual’s tax identity is simplified into a single number: your 16-digit NIK (national ID number) now acts as your NPWP (tax ID). It sounds convenient—but there’s one crucial requirement people often miss: NIK-NPWP matching (pemadanan).
What is matching, and why does it matter?
Matching is the process of reconciling your NIK with your taxpayer data at the DJP so your NIK is valid as a tax identity. Without it, your NIK is not recognized as a valid NPWP in Coretax.
As a result, you may struggle to:
- Log in and activate your Coretax account.
- Complete and file your annual tax return.
- Issue Article 21 income-tax withholding slips.
- Handle other administrative services that require a valid NPWP.
Heads-up: the self-service route is closed
This is the part that surprises many. Online self-service matching has been unavailable since the end of 2024. If your NIK isn’t matched today, the only way is to visit a Tax Office (KPP) in person.
Prepare these documents:
- Your original e-KTP (ID card).
- Your old NPWP card (if any).
- An active, registered email.
- A phone number for verification.
